Scan the Document on Android
Android interfaces vary by phone maker, so Google Drive offers a broadly available workflow that does not depend on a manufacturer-specific scanning app. Open Google Drive, choose its Scan or camera document-scanning control, position the written page clearly, and capture the full paper document.
Place the paper on a flat surface with even lighting and hold the phone directly above it. Keep every edge visible so the saved page does not lose text, signatures, or other important details.
Controls may vary slightly by Android version, phone manufacturer, or Google Drive version.
Add Multiple Pages to One PDF
Use the control for adding another page and continue until every intended paper page has been captured. Keep all pages in the same Google Drive scanning session so the result is one multi-page PDF instead of separate files.
Before saving, arrange the pages in reading order and check for blur, shadows, cut-off edges, incorrect orientation, missing pages, and accidental duplicates.
Crop or Rotate Pages If Needed
Review each captured page and use the available crop, rotate, or adjustment controls when necessary. Make sure the corrected page remains upright and includes the entire area you intend to mail.
Save and Review the Finished PDF
Save the completed document as a PDF with a recognizable file name in your chosen Google Drive location and account. Open the saved PDF from Drive and review it from beginning to end before uploading it anywhere.
Confirm that every page is present, in the correct order, upright, and readable at a comfortable zoom level. Rescan any page that is blurry, shadowed, incomplete, or difficult to read.
Upload the PDF to MappyMail
Open MappyMail in Chrome or another modern browser on the Android phone. Choose the finished PDF through the phone's available file picker or Drive access, wait for the preview, and review every uploaded page before continuing to the mailing options and checkout. The exact file-selection interface can vary by device, Android version, and storage provider.
MappyMail creates and mails a new physical copy from the PDF. It does not mail the original paper sheets that you scanned.
Choose the Mailing Destination
Know the mailing address? Enter it directly.
Know the physical location instead? Find the location and click the map, then review the mailing destination. Add any apartment, suite, or unit information when needed before reviewing the available mailing options and completing checkout.
Common Scanning Problems to Check
Before uploading, correct any blurry capture, cut-off edge, sideways page, unreadable text, missing page, duplicate page, or incorrect page order. Rescan a page when the PDF does not clearly preserve the information on the paper.
Important limitations
- Google Drive controls and the Android file picker can vary by Android version, device, and storage provider.
- MappyMail mails a newly produced physical copy created from the uploaded PDF; it does not mail the original paper sheets.
- Blurry pages, cut-off edges, shadows, incorrect orientation, missing pages, and incorrect page order can affect the mailed copy.
- Current file, page, destination, and mailing-option limits are shown in the workflow.
Common questions
Can an Android phone scan a paper document into a PDF?
Yes. Google Drive's camera or Scan control can capture paper pages and save the completed document as a PDF.
Can I scan several pages into one PDF on Android?
Yes. Add every page before finishing the Google Drive scan, keep the pages in reading order, and save the completed document as one PDF.
Why use Google Drive instead of a phone-maker app?
Android scanning tools vary by manufacturer. Google Drive provides a broadly available workflow, although its controls can still vary by device and Android version.
What should I check before mailing an Android scan?
Check every page for readable text, complete edges, correct orientation and order, and any missing, blank, or duplicate pages.
Do I need a printer to mail the scanned PDF?
No. Upload the finished PDF, choose and review the mailing destination, and complete checkout. MappyMail handles printing, the envelope, postage, and physical mailing.
Can I mail the scan if I only know the physical location?
Yes. Find the location and click the map, review the mailing destination, and add any required apartment, suite, or unit information before continuing.
