Step by step

  1. 1

    Scan the document in Preview

Open Preview, choose Scan Documents, position the written page clearly, and capture it.

  2. 2

Add, correct, and finish the pages

Add every remaining page, then crop, rotate, correct, and arrange the scans before finishing one PDF.

  3. 3

    Review and upload the PDF

Open the saved PDF, check every page, then select it for upload in MappyMail and review the uploaded pages.

  4. 4

Choose the destination and mail it

Enter a known mailing address or find the physical location and click the map, then review the destination, mailing options, and checkout details.

Scan the Document on Your iPhone

Place the written paper document on a flat surface with even lighting. Open Preview on the iPhone, choose Scan Documents, and hold the phone directly above the page with every edge visible. Capture the first page, then review it before continuing.

Crop, rotate, or correct the captured page when needed. Make sure the full page edges, text, handwriting, and signatures remain visible and readable.

Scan Multiple Pages into One PDF

A Preview scan can contain one page or multiple written pages. Add another page after the first capture and continue until every intended page is included in the same scanning session.

Before finishing, put the pages in reading order and check their orientation and complete edges. Remove blank or duplicate pages and rescan anything that is blurry, missing, cut off, or unreadable.

Review and Save the PDF

Finish the Preview scan and save or store the resulting PDF somewhere you can recognize and select during upload. Open the combined PDF and review it from beginning to end before opening MappyMail.

Confirm that every page is present, upright, correctly ordered, and readable at a comfortable zoom level. Check full page edges, text, handwriting, signatures, missing pages, duplicate pages, and accidental blank pages.

Upload the PDF to MappyMail

Open MappyMail in Safari or another modern browser on the same iPhone. Choose the finished PDF through the file picker, wait for the document preview, and review every uploaded page before continuing to the mailing options and checkout.

MappyMail creates and mails a new physical copy from the PDF. It does not mail the original paper sheets that you scanned.

Choose the Mailing Destination

Know the mailing address? Enter it directly.

Know the physical location instead? Find the location and click the map, then review the mailing destination. Add any apartment, suite, or unit information when needed before reviewing the available mailing options and completing checkout.

Common Scanning Problems to Check

Before uploading, correct any blurry capture, cut-off edge, sideways page, unreadable text, missing page, duplicate page, or incorrect page order. Rescan a page when the PDF does not clearly preserve the information on the paper.

Alternative: Scan with Apple Notes

If Preview is not available on an older iPhone setup, or if you prefer Notes, Apple Notes can also scan one or more document pages. Save the completed scan as a PDF where you can review it and select it for upload; the MappyMail portion of the workflow remains the same.

Important limitations

  • MappyMail mails a newly produced physical copy created from the uploaded PDF; it does not mail the original paper sheets.
  • Blurry pages, cut-off edges, shadows, incorrect orientation, missing pages, and incorrect page order can affect the mailed copy.
  • Handwriting and small text must be readable in the finished PDF before upload.
  • Current file, page, destination, and mailing-option limits are shown in the workflow.
