What Certified Mail provides

USPS Certified Mail provides a mailing record and tracking for an eligible domestic letter. MappyMail sends the tracking number to the email address supplied with the order after the letter is submitted for mailing.

Certified Mail does not guarantee delivery on a particular date, prove that a specific person read the letter, or replace advice about the rules for a legal or regulated notice.

Electronic Return Receipt is optional

An Electronic Return Receipt requests a digital record associated with the delivery signature. It adds a separate charge and must be selected with Certified Mail when the option is available.

A signature record does not necessarily establish that a particular intended individual personally signed or read the contents.

Certified letters have a six-sheet limit

The certified envelope fits up to 6 total printed sheets. A typed letter can use those sheets for its content. For a PDF upload, the separate address sheet counts as one of the 6, leaving room for up to five uploaded pages.

If the document is too long for Certified Mail, shorten it or send it as regular mail. The live workflow checks the sheet count before checkout.

Common questions

Can I send Certified Mail without going to the post office?

Yes. Create or upload the eligible letter, enter the domestic US destination, choose Certified Mail, and complete checkout online.

How do I receive the Certified Mail tracking number?

Provide an email address in the mailing workflow. MappyMail sends the tracking information after the letter is submitted for mailing.

What is the difference between Certified Mail and an Electronic Return Receipt?

Certified Mail supplies a mailing record and tracking. The optional Electronic Return Receipt requests an additional digital recipient-signature record.

Can I send an uploaded PDF as Certified Mail?

Yes, if the full mailing fits the 6-sheet limit. The address sheet added before an uploaded PDF counts as one sheet.

Can I send international Certified Mail through MappyMail?

No. The current Certified Mail option is for eligible domestic US letters. International letters use the regular international workflow.
